The Programme of Work on the Implementation of Article 8(j) and Related Provisions of the Convention on Biological Diversity (2000) adopted five elements of work with 17 tasks for Parties, the Working Group on Article 8(j) and the Secretariat of the CBD (for more information on the elements and tasks, found at https://www.cbd.int/traditional/pow.shtml). Within the discussions on the post-2020 global biodiversity framework, there is consideration of possible elements and their related tasks for a future Programme of Work related to indigenous peoples and local communities and traditional knowledge.
Please identify one or two elements and tasks for a future programme of work related to indigenous peoples and local communities which can be considered for the post-2020 global biodiversity framework? For example, some views received identify the need to work on documentation, recording and transmission of traditional knowledge as an element and as a related task. This would encourage indigenous peoples and local communities to develop and implement processes to facilitate the collection, documentation, storage and dissemination of traditional knowledge.
